Those who are inspired by translations may not imagine other vocation. Languages world is rich and inspiring, though some funky opinions let the others think that the language is not a profession. Meanwhile translators take the languages as a source of inspiration.  So, what are translations -  lifestyle or job?

Some translators are solely dedicated to their profession, some of them use it as an auxiliary skill. How to improve your translation skills, if you decide to develop your career and succeed it. You have almost tired of sitting for long office hours, waiting your next week-end. You have decided to be by oneself and perform what you love indeed. Now let's summarize some simple tricks which may help in this joyful journey.

1. Linguistic inspiration

Make sure you are inspired by languages. As a true learner of language, you are inspired by the culture and history of studying language. You really enjoy while translating. You are easily being submerged into the text. You check four hours the dictionaries, your create your glossaries and never get tired by new discoveries of words. Without that passion, what would be your time? ...a burden, a long lasting burden.

 2. Additional courses

Fluency of languages is not yet a guarantee. High-quality service require much more experience. Enroll in additional courses to strengthen your skills. Challenge yourself setting up new directions. Do both oral and written translations. Follow your efforts until you feel again in a comfort zone. Soon you will find a quick compensation.  

 3. Competitiveness

The job market is full of freelancers. But not of them are competitive. There is enough work in the market, but... the competition is still high. In this crowded market it is still difficult to find a qualified translator or a translator working on specific language set. Try to be active. Introduce yourself to your potential customers and present your profiles. Accept not only large but as well small tasks allowing creating a confidence for your customers. Think quickly and do not hesitate when you discover a new problem. 

4. Industry diversity

Do you work in one industry and have few orders... consider adding a new one. You can choose geology, history, style and design or more complex and interesting sports translations. You can even come forward and engage in oral translations, if not simultaneously, then at least consecutively. That diverse world, in addition to language skills, will provide an interesting flexible workspace. You will meet the speakers of the given language and culture, you will participate in new events, encountering new faces. This stressful and difficult work will ensure not only high profitability, but also a new rhythm of life.

 5. Rich vocabulary

Set aside special time to practice vocabulary. The quality of the translation is significantly influenced by the correct choice of words. Find their synonyms and antonyms. Choose and read different books, extracting from them the words that you come across for the first time. Even when reading in your native language, you will come across words that you have never heard before. Sometimes just read encyclopedias. they convey not only linguistic but also a lot of new knowledge.

 6. Make a word list

Make your own vocabulary. Nothing speeds up the translation process like having your own vocabulary. After each translation, highlight technical terms whose translated equivalents you may have forgotten and spend time looking for again. Make your own registrations at the end of the translation. A little longer work will significantly reduce the time of translation in the future
